Job summary

Imerys is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join the engineering team at Cliffe Vale, supporting maintenance and continuous improvement of a wide range of industrial plant and equipment across the site. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically skilled engineer who enjoys hands-on maintenance work and wants to develop their career within a stable, safety-focused and supportive business.

The role requires NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, a Full UK Driving

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3, apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Experience working within manufacturing, processing, quarrying or heavy industrial environments
• Strong mechanical maintenance and fault‑finding skills
• Experience working with industrial pipework systems
• Experience maintaining pumps, conveyors and associated mechanical equipment
• Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance and breakdown repair activities
• A strong commitment to health and safety
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Maintain industrial ABS and PVC pipework systems
• Maintain water pumps and air pumps
• Maintain conveyors, belts and mechanical equipment
• Service valves, bearings, gearboxes and drive systems
• Support shutdown activities, equipment installations and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Industrial ABS and PVC pipework systems
• Water pumps and air pumps
• Conveyors, belts and associated mechanical equipment
• Valves, bearings, gearboxes and drive systems
• General fixed plant and processing equipment
• You'll also support shutdown activities, equipment installations and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures.

Requirements

• NVQ Level 3, apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Experience working within manufacturing, processing, quarrying or heavy industrial environments
• Strong mechanical maintenance and fault‑finding skills
• Experience working with industrial pipework systems
• Experience maintaining pumps, conveyors and associated mechanical equipment

Desirable Skills

• Welding and fabrication experience
• Experience working within mineral processing or heavy industry
• Pump installation and alignment experience
• Experience maintaining bearings, gearboxes and drive systems
• Confined Space training
• MEWP, forklift or mobile plant licences
• Experience using SAP or other maintenance management systems
