South West Recruitment Ltd in New Milton, Hampshire, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter / Machine Builder with MIG welding experience to join a busy engineering workshop. You will work on fabricating, assembling and installing specialist machinery across UK sites.

The role focuses on mechanical fitting, assembly, and welding from engineering drawings, with opportunities for site installation travel and progression within a UK-based engineering environment.

Qualifications

• . Previous mechanical fitting, machinery assembly or machine-building experience.
• . MIG welding experience is essential.
• . Experience reading engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• . Good knowledge of mechanical components and assembly techniques.
• . Experience fabricating metal frames, casings or similar components.
• . Confident use of hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment.
• . Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsabilités

• Mechanical fitting and assembly of specialist industrial machinery.
• MIG welding and fabrication of machine casings, frames and components.
• Building and assembling machinery from engineering drawings and specifications.
• Fitting mechanical components and associated equipment.
• Preparing, cutting, assembling and welding metal components.
• Using hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment.
• Ensuring completed assemblies meet required quality and dimensional standards.
• Assisting with machine testing, adjustments and fault-finding.
• Working closely with other engineers throughout the machine-building process.
• Potentially progressing into customer-site machinery installation, including travel within the UK and overseas.
