Job summary

SimWest Engineering Recruitment in Manchester is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Assembly Engineer or Machine Builder to join a long-standing engineering team. You will build, assemble and test industrial machinery from detailed drawings in a modern workshop.

The role offers Monday–Friday days with Fridays finishing at 1pm, paid overtime at 1.5x, and a permanent, site-based position. The successful candidate will read drawings, fit components, and contribute to on-site

Qualifications

• Experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Assembly Engineer or Machine Builder.
• Experience building or assembling industrial machinery or equipment.
• Good mechanical fitting and bench fitting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings.
• Hands-on approach with good attention to detail.
• Welding or fabrication experience is advantageous but not required.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical fitting, assembly and build of industrial machinery and equipment.
• Building mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies from engineering drawings.
• Precision fitting, bench fitting and general mechanical assembly work.
• Using hand and power tools to assemble mechanical components.
• Working alongside experienced Mechanical Fitters throughout the build process.
• Supporting the testing and preparation of completed equipment.
