Job summary

Aircraft Mechanical Fitter position based at RAF Shawbury, Shropshire. 7 on 7 off pattern with 0730–1930 shifts, supporting MFTS operations and certifying engineers. You will help deliver serviceable aircraft, adhere to regulations, and perform maintenance across airframes, powerplants and systems.

Essential Level 3 Aircraft Engineering qualification and willingness to work at RAF Shawbury with occasional site moves. A rewarding benefits package and career development opportunities are offered.

Responsibilities

• Assist Certifying Engineers with delivery of serviceable aircraft to meet daily flying programme requirements.
• Ensure compliance with aviation regulations and company procedures.
• Complete maintenance to a high standard to ensure safe operation of aircraft.
• Assist with aircraft maintenance across airframe, engines and systems under supervision.
• Support hangar operations including aircraft movement and housekeeping.

The Opportunity

Aircraft Mechanical Fitter at RAF Shawbury, Shropshire.

Reporting to the Base Maintenance Manager, to support the MFTS operation.

• Assisting Certifying Engineers with the delivery of serviceable aircraft to meet the requirements of the daily flying programme.
• Ensuring compliance with Aviation regulations and Company procedures.
• Accomplishment of Maintenance activities as directed by Maintenance Supervisors.
• Complete maintenance to a high standard to ensure continued safe operation of the aircraft.
• Assisting with aircraft maintenance, including airframe structure, power plant, mechanical systems and electrical systems under the supervision of Certifying Engineers.
• Assist in day to day running of the Hangar, including aircraft movement and general housekeeping responsibilities.

Fitter-to-LAE Pathway

Aircraft Avionics Technicians who are studying towards their UK CAA Part 66 B2 Licence who have completed at least 6 modules and have more than 3 years’ experience documented in their experience logbooks are also encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will be enrolled onto the AHUK Fitter to LAE Development scheme.

Additional requirements

• This position is subject to National Security Vetting. Candidates must be able to obtain SC clearance, which generally requires having lived in the UK for the last five years. All successful applicants will also undergo a mandatory BPSS check.
