Job summary

Airbus Helicopters UK Ltd is recruiting a B1.3 Licensed Engineer for RAF Shawbury, Shropshire, to support the MFTS operation. Reporting to the Base Maintenance Manager, you’ll deliver serviceable aircraft and ensure aviation regulatory compliance.

Essentially, you’ll work on airframe, powerplant, systems, and avionics, supervising fitters and maintaining high safety standards. Occasional site rotations may occur.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of UK CAA Part 145, Part CAMO and UK ANO requirements.
• Experience in an aviation engineering environment.
• Ability to work as part of a team; self-motivated and able to work on own initiative.

Responsibilities

• Deliver serviceable aircraft to meet daily flying programme requirements.
• Ensure compliance with aviation regulations and company procedures.
• Perform maintenance inspections and repairs as directed by supervisors.
• Complete maintenance to high standards for continued safe operation.
• Maintain airframes, engine, mechanical, electrical and avionics systems.
• Supervise fitters and certify their work.
• Assist in daily hangar operations and aircraft movements.

The Opportunity

UK CAA B1.3 Licensed Aircraft Engineer at RAF Shawbury, Shropshire.

Reporting to the Base Maintenance Manager, to support the MFTS operation.

• Responsible for the delivery of serviceable aircraft to meet the requirements of the daily flying programme.
• Ensuring compliance with Aviation regulations and Company procedures.
• Accomplishment of Maintenance inspections and repairs as directed by Maintenance Supervisors.
• Complete maintenance to a high standard to ensure continued safe operation of the aircraft.
• Completion of maintenance, including airframe structure, power plant, mechanical systems, electrical systems and avionics systems.
• Supervision of maintenance fitters and the certification of their work.
• Assist in day to day running of the Hangar, including aircraft movement and general housekeeping responsibilities.

Knowledge and Skills

• Working knowledge of UK CAA regulations including, but not limited to Part 145, Part CAMO and UK ANO
• Thorough knowledge of engine and airframe systems
• Experience in an Aviation engineering environment
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Self‑motivated and ability to work under own initiative
• Strong communication, organisational and leadership skills
• Flexible to the requirements of the company and needs of the customer
• Operational resilience and collaborative problem‑solving

Fitter-to-LAE Pathway

Aircraft Avionics Technicians who are studying towards their UK CAA Part 66 B2 Licence who have completed at least 6 modules and have more than 3 years’ experience documented in their experience logbooks are also encouraged to apply.

Successful candidates will be enrolled onto the AHUK Fitter to LAE Development scheme.

• Valid UK CAA Part 66 B1.3 Licence
• Preferably with one of the following type ratings, but not essential:
• Airbus EC135 T3H
• Airbus BK117 D2

Additional requirements

• This position is subject to National Security Vetting. Candidates must be able to obtain SC clearance, which generally requires having lived in the UK for the last five years. All successful applicants will also undergo a mandatory BPSS check.
