Job description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Fitter to join our team based in Walsall. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled individual with a strong background in mechanical fitting to work on the installation of high-quality equipment. The successful candidate will be confident reading engineering drawings, assembling mechanical systems to a high standard, and work safely in water treatment environments. The role offers the opportunity to travel to customer sites across the UK, supporting the installation and servicing of equipment. Essential Experience
  • Previous experience in a mechanical fitting or machine assembly role.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Experience assembling mechanical equipment and sub-assemblies.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and machinery safely.
  • Experience working within manufacturing or engineering production environments.
  • Experience working to quality standards and production deadlines.
Essential Requirements
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites
  • Work away from home when required
  • Flexibility to work overtime to meet operational requirements.
  • Commitment to ongoing training and professional development.
  • A valid CSCS card
  • Live within a 20 mile radius of Walsall (for travelling to sites)
Desirable Experience
  • Installation and commissioning of industrial equipment.
  • Plastic and steel fabrication.
  • Solvent welding.
  • Working within ISO 9001 or other quality management systems.
  • Customer site installation and service work.
  • Experience within water treatment, environmental, manufacturing, or process engineering industries.
  • EUSR card
Desirable Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Maintenance, or a related discipline.
  • MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platform) certification.
  • Manual Handling training.
  • First Aid at Work qualification.
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
  • Recognised engineering apprenticeship or relevant mechanical engineering qualification (or equivalent industry experience).
  • PASMA
Knowledge

The successful candidate will have knowledge of:

  • Mechanical assembly techniques.
  • Engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Safe use of workshop equipment and machinery.
  • Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
  • Quality assurance principles.Safe manual handling techniques.
