Job summary

WES, part of the RSE Group, is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join our Site Services team. You will install, upgrade and refurbish chemical dosing systems across the UK water sector, traveling regularly and working away from home. Accommodation and travel are provided by WES.

Key duties include installing dosing skids, fabricating pipework in plastics, aligning pumps and instrumentation, and reading drawings and P&IDs to ensure compliance with specifications.

Qualifications

  • NVQ or Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, Pipefitting or equivalent.
  • Proven mechanical installation experience with plastics.
  • Knowledge of Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety processes/procedures.
  • Water industry experience is advantageous but not required.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Install new and existing mechanical process equipment including dosing skids and related plant.
  • Fabricate and install PVC-U, PP, PE and PVDF pipework systems with valves and supports.
  • Install, replace and align pumps, valves, tanks and instrumentation.
  • Interpret drawings, P&IDs and installation layouts to ensure work meets spec.
  • Perform pressure testing, commissioning support and mechanical inspections.
  • Work safely following RAMS and site procedures; maintain high workmanship standards.
  • Support other disciplines to ensure on-time project delivery and good communications.
  • Maintain site documentation and communicate with supervisors and clients.
  • Undertake any other duties relevant to the role to support project delivery.

What Are We Looking For?

Due to continued growth, WES, part of the RSE Group, is looking for a Mechanical Fitter to join our expanding Site Services team. You'll play a key role in delivering mechanical installation projects across the UK water industry, working on the installation, upgrade and refurbishment of chemical dosing systems and associated process equipment.

Please note this role involves travel throughout the UK and regular working away from home. Accommodation and travel arrangements are provided by WES.

Key Duties
  • Installation of new and existing mechanical process equipment, including chemical dosing skids, kiosks and associated plant.
  • Fabrication, assembly and installation of PVC-U, PP, PE and PVDF pipework systems, including valves, fittings and support systems.
  • Installation, replacement and alignment of pumps, valves, tanks, instrumentation and ancillary mechanical equipment.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs and installation layouts to ensure work is completed accurately and to specification.
  • Carry out pressure testing, commissioning support and mechanical inspections to ensure installations meet quality and client standards.
  • Work safely in accordance with RAMS, site procedures and health & safety legislation, maintaining the highest standards of workmanship.
  • Support electrical installation engineers, commissioning engineers and other disciplines to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and on programme.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping, complete site documentation and communicate effectively with supervisors and clients.
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role and your skill set to support the successful delivery of projects.
What Do You Need?
  • NVQ or Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, Pipefitting or equivalent.
  • Proven Mechanical installation experience specifically working with plastics.
  • Good knowledge of Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety processes/procedures.
  • Water industry experience would be highly advantageous however other industries will also be considered.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
