A vacancy has arisen for a Mechanical Fitter to join our team within our Severn Trent Engineering contract in Derbyshire / Mansfield / Nottingham areas.

The Mechanical Fitter role involves working either alone or as part of a team, including electrical craftsmen, to provide support through both planned and reactive maintenance, as well as new plant installations and upgrades under the framework contracts as instructed by the framework manager. The role requires mechanical qualifications and broader skills, contributing to the wider engineering team when necessary.

The key duties include:

  1. Complying with HIS/STW SHEQ procedures
  2. Carrying out PPM as per site schedules
  3. Performing RCM activities as per site schedules
  4. Executing planned defect repairs on all Mechanical equipment within the HIS Service delivery scope
  5. Applying and removing mechanical isolations in accordance with PTW systems
  6. Conducting fault finding activities
  7. Identifying opportunities for engineered and process control improvements
  8. Working to drawings, installing, and commissioning new equipment
  9. Diagnosing and repairing plant breakdowns
  10. Operating workshop equipment and tools
  11. Completing necessary documentation, reports, and records
  12. Providing professional support to the Client and Engineering team
  13. Implementing continuous improvements and innovations
  14. Ensuring high standards in work completion
  15. Communicating progress and issues to Clients and Framework Manager
  16. Promoting a proactive safety culture to aim for zero harm
  17. Delivering work on time

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  1. Completion of an Apprenticeship or equivalent, with at least 2 years' experience working on mechanical plant and installations
  2. Understanding of relevant regulations and legislation
  3. Experience in fault diagnostics and repair solutions
  4. Ability to undertake and pass Level 3 confined space training
  5. Ability to see work through to completion
  6. Strong communication skills at all levels
  7. Willingness to undertake site inductions and safety training
  8. Rigging, slinging, and FLT driving skills and qualifications are preferable
  9. Hold a UK Driving Licence, including C1 category (3500kg - 7500kg)
