Job summary

Six Ventures Ltd is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Fitter to join our expanding site team across UK projects. The role covers installation, maintenance and commissioning of mechanical and ventilation systems.

You will dismantle ductwork, carry out pre- and post-commissioning tests, read schematics, and support planning with the project team while adhering to quality, health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Practical mechanical background with on-site experience.
• CSCS card and UK driving licence preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret maintenance drawings and schematics.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to plan and organise work within existing systems.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and commission mechanical systems as part of a project team.
• Dismantle/reassemble PVC/GRP ductwork and fans.
• Carry out pre-commissioning testing and commissioning of ventilation systems.
• Inspect existing systems, identify faults and produce short technical reports.
• Carry out preventative maintenance on plant and equipment.
• Assist with planning and scheduling of upcoming works with the project team.
• Support other engineering disciplines when required.
• Use hand tools, machinery and specialist equipment safely and correctly.
• Ensure tools and equipment are maintained to a safe, high standard.

Mechanical Fitter

The Opportunity

We're working with an established engineering business that is expanding its site team and looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Fitter on a permanent basis.

You'll join an experienced team delivering engineering projects for clients across the UK.

This is a hands-on role involving the installation, maintenance, testing and commissioning of mechanical and ventilation systems.

Please note: The role involves flexibility regarding working location, with regular UK-wide site work required.

The Role

As a Mechanical Fitter, you'll be involved in the installation, maintenance and commissioning of mechanical systems, working as part of a wider project team.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Dismantling and reassembling mechanical assemblies, primarily PVC/GRP ductwork and fans.
• Carrying out pre-commissioning testing and commissioning of installed ventilation systems.
• Inspecting existing systems, identifying faults and producing short technical reports.
• Carrying out preventative maintenance on plant and equipment.
• Working alongside the project team to help plan and schedule upcoming works.
• Supporting other engineering disciplines when required.
• Using hand tools, machinery and specialist equipment safely and correctly.
• Ensuring tools and equipment are maintained to a safe and high standard.
• Working in line with company quality, environmental and health & safety procedures.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with a practical mechanical background who is comfortable working on-site and can take ownership of their work.

You'll ideally have:

• A CSCS Card.
• Demonstrable experience in ductwork installation.
• Experience working with mechanical assemblies, ventilation systems or similar equipment.
• The ability to read and interpret schematics and maintenance drawings.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to plan and organise work, particularly when removing and reinstalling components within existing systems.
• High personal standards around quality, health & safety and environmental compliance.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Water industry experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
