Job summary

Pertemps Bond is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter for a field-based role in Bolton/Bromley Cross. You will lead a two-person team, install, maintain and repair wastewater treatment facilities, and own jobs from start to finish across UK sites.

The role offers dayshift, field-based work with overtime and travel away. A strong background in utility environments and crane/lifting operations is essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years’ experience as a Mechanical Fitter or similar.
• Confident fault-finding and problem-solving ability in the field.
• Experience with lifting & cranage operations.
• Working at height.
• Confined spaces.
• Comfortable working in wastewater/utilities environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead a 2-person field team on-site.

The Opportunity

A well-established and growing engineering business operating within the utilities sector is looking to strengthen its field team with the addition of an experienced Mechanical Fitter.

This is a key hire with a clear succession plan in place, offering the opportunity to step into a senior, hands-on position and play a pivotal role in delivering critical work across UK infrastructure projects.

The Role

• Lead a 2-person field team as the Mechanical Fitter on-site
• Carry out installation, maintenance and repair work on wastewater treatment facilities
• Take ownership of jobs from start to completion, ensuring high standards and efficiency
• Work closely with an experienced engineer
• Operate across multiple sites, with a strong focus on the utilities / wastewater sector
• Occasional working away (typically 3–4 days per week at times, with some longer stints during peak periods)

Requirements

• 10+ years’ experience as a Mechanical Fitter or similar
• Confident fault-finding and problem-solving ability in the field
• Experience with:
• Lifting & cranage operations
• Working at height
• Confined spaces
• Comfortable working in wastewater / utilities environments (majority of work)
