Job summary

Assystem Bridgwater, England, United Kingdom is seeking a Mechanical Field Engineer to provide on-site surveillance of mechanical construction, focusing on quality compliance and contractor oversight.

You will review drawings, monitor performance, report non-conformances, and support safety culture within a nuclear project, engaging with contractors and project stakeholders to maintain quality records and ensure alignment with ISO9001 standards.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical engineering qualification or equivalent vocational experience.
  • Experience with pipework installation, pumps, tanks and rotating equipment.
  • Knowledge of QA requirements including ISO9001 principles.
  • Experience producing accurate, concise contract-relevant site diaries.
  • Strong attention to detail when inspecting equipment and materials.
  • Ability to build effective contractor relationships while remaining independent.
  • Understanding of CDM Regulations and drawing approval processes desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor mechanical works against contractor requirements and approved documentation
  • Identify deviations and support formal non-conformance reporting processes
  • Conduct continuous, notified and planned surveillance of construction activities
  • Maintain effective communication with contractors and wider project stakeholders
  • Provide surveillance information supporting project quality performance indicators
  • Identify emerging quality issues and support proportionate mitigation measures
  • Verify quality records are completed before works become inaccessible
  • Review construction drawings, technical requirements and quality control plans
  • Monitor contractor performance against authorised quality control requirements
  • Capture accurate surveillance information using electronic site reporting systems

Mechanical Field Engineer – ASSYSTEM Bridgwater, England, United Kingdom

The Job Mission

You will provide mechanical construction surveillance across a designated section of the project.
