Job summary

A leading engineering company in Bridgwater is seeking an Engineering Lead to oversee contract delivery with hybrid working arrangements. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Engineering or a related field, a strong background in mechanical equipment, and experience managing technical projects within the nuclear sector. This role includes leading technical meetings, mentoring staff, and managing multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success and compliance with safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • Degree in an Engineering or Scientific discipline required.
  • Strong technical background in mechanical equipment and safety regulations.
  • Experience in nuclear equipment design and contract management is beneficial.
  • Strong technical background in mechanical equipment, rotating machinery, or steelwork.
  • Familiarity with EPR or general PWR design.
  • Experience in nuclear equipment design, manufacture, commissioning, or operations.
  • Experience with change management and contract/deliverable tools (UKDC, UKICM, OPM, CEMAR, Teamcenter).
  • Experience in contract management and document surveillance.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders in a fast-paced, site-based environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead contract technical meetings and project coordination.
  • Drive resolution of technical issues and design changes.
  • Manage technical evolution and coordinate engineering teams.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams to support contract delivery.
  • Liaise with Responsible Designers, client functions, and stakeholders to ensure integration of equipment and systems.
  • Oversee qualification of equipment to align with contract progress and site needs.
  • Support Project Managers with resource planning, risk management, and budget control.
  • Report KPIs and progress updates to senior stakeholders.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced engineers to strengthen your future team.

The Job Mission

This position is based in Bridgwater with hybrid working (three days in the office, two from home). Relocation assistance is available for those moving closer to site.

Responsibilities
  • Lead contract technical meetings and attend project coordination sessions

Qualifications
Essential Skills
  • Degree (or equivalent) in an Engineering or Scientific discipline
  • Understanding of construction, installation, Health & Safety legislation, and CDM regulations
  • Ability to apply multidisciplinary technical knowledge to challenge and validate designs
  • Strong technical background in mechanical equipment, rotating machinery, or steelwork
Desired Skills
  • Familiarity with EPR or general PWR design
  • Experience in nuclear equipment design, manufacture, commissioning, or operations
  • Experience with change management and contract/deliverable management tools (UKDC, UKICM, OPM, CEMAR, Teamcenter)
  • Previous experience in contract management and document surveillance
  • Ability to influence stakeholders in a fast-paced, site-based environment
