Job summary

Unknown Employer is seeking a Mechanical Estimator to own cost estimating across large UK retail M&E projects. You will prepare detailed cost estimates, material take-offs and cost breakdowns for complex schemes.

You will review supplier quotes, run the tender cycle from enquiry to handover, and benchmark market rates to keep pricing competitive. The role includes development opportunities and a competitive car-allowance package.

Qualifications

• Five-plus years in a similar estimating role within construction
• Sound knowledge of mechanical specs and materials
• Ability to interpret specifications, drawings and BOQs
• Retail M&E experience is a bonus but not required

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed mechanical cost estimates, take-offs and cost breakdowns
• Review supplier and subcontractor quotations for accuracy and compliance
• Run the tender cycle from enquiry through bid preparation to handover

They need a Mechanical Estimator to take ownership of mechanical and HVAC cost estimating across some genuinely impressive retail projects.

What you'll be doing:

• Preparing detailed mechanical cost estimates, material take-offs and cost breakdowns
• Reviewing supplier and subcontractor quotations for accuracy and compliance
• Running the tender cycle from enquiry through bid preparation to handover
• Analysing market rates, benchmark data and project risk to keep pricing sharp and competitive
• Helping drive continuous improvement across the estimating function

What you'll need:

• At least five years in a similar estimating capacity in construction, ideally with a mechanical contractor
• Sound knowledge of mechanical specifications and materials
• Confidence interpreting specifications, drawings, schedules of work and Bills of Quantities
• Retail M&E experience is a bonus but not essential
