Job summary

Assystem is seeking Mechanical Engineers at Engineer, Senior, Lead and Principal levels to support delivery, commissioning and operational readiness of critical nuclear mechanical systems. Roles involve piping, HVAC, rotating equipment and diesel generators with a focus on safety and regulatory compliance.

Ideal candidates have a mechanical engineering degree and experience delivering complex, regulated infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support commissioning, testing and validation of mechanical systems
  • Contribute to construction, installation and equipment engineering activities
  • Support system turnover, handover and operational readiness programmes
  • Resolve technical issues, site queries and engineering challenges
  • Coordinate contractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary project stakeholders
  • Review technical documentation, design changes and construction modifications
  • Ensure compliance with nuclear safety, quality and regulatory requirements
  • Manage interfaces across engineering, construction and commissioning teams
  • Support major project milestones through to operational readiness

These opportunities are suited to candidates within commuting distance of Bridgwater or Bristol, depending on role requirements.

We are seeking Mechanical Engineers across Engineer, Senior, Lead and Principal levels. With a background in either, piping, HVAC, rotating equipment, pressure systems, valves, pumps or diesel generators.

You will support the delivery, commissioning and operational readiness of critical nuclear mechanical systems.

Deliver engineering solutions across mechanical, piping, HVAC and process systems
  • Support commissioning, testing and validation of mechanical systems
  • Contribute to construction, installation and equipment engineering activities
  • Support system turnover, handover and operational readiness programmes
  • Resolve technical issues, site queries and engineering challenges
  • Coordinate contractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary project stakeholders
  • Review technical documentation, design changes and construction modifications
  • Ensure compliance with nuclear safety, quality and regulatory requirements
  • Manage interfaces across engineering, construction and commissioning teams
  • Support major project milestones through to operational readiness
Qualifications
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or relevant technical qualification and experience
  • Experience in mechanical systems, equipment or engineering delivery
  • Background in piping, HVAC, rotating equipment, pressure systems, valves, pumps or diesel generators would be advantageous
  • Commissioning, testing, installation or construction experience highly valued
  • Experience delivering complex engineering or infrastructure projects
  • Experience working within regulated or safety-critical environments
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities
  • Excellent technical problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Commitment to quality, safety and engineering excellence
  • Nuclear, energy, defence or major infrastructure experience advantageous
