Job summary

Assystem is recruiting Mechanical Engineers for roles across Engineer, Senior, Lead and Principal levels in Bristol/Bridgwater. Candidates should have a Mechanical Engineering background with experience in piping, HVAC, rotating equipment, and safety-critical environments.

The positions involve delivering mechanical, piping and process solutions, supporting commissioning, and coordinating with construction teams to achieve operational readiness.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering degree or relevant technical qualification and experience.
• Experience in mechanical systems, equipment or engineering delivery.
• Background in piping, HVAC, rotating equipment, pressure systems, valves, pumps or diesel generators would be advantageous.
• Commissioning, testing, installation or construction experience highly valued.
• Experience delivering complex engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Experience working within regulated or safety-critical environments.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Excellent technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Commitment to quality, safety and engineering excellence.
• Nuclear, energy, defence or major infrastructure experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engineering solutions across mechanical, piping, HVAC and process systems
• Support commissioning, testing and validation of mechanical systems
• Contribute to construction, installation and equipment engineering activities
• Support system turnover, handover and operational readiness programmes
• Resolve technical issues, site queries and engineering challenges
• Coordinate contractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary project stakeholders
• Review technical documentation, design changes and construction modifications
• Ensure compliance with nuclear safety, quality and regulatory requirements
• Manage interfaces across engineering, construction and commissioning teams
• Support major project milestones through to operational readiness
