Job summary

Escape is seeking an experienced Deputy Operations Manager to support senior management in an established engineering operation. You will lead engineering teams, manage customer projects, oversee operational performance and ensure delivery within time, cost, and quality targets.

The role combines engineering leadership, project management, customer liaison, commercial responsibility and operational planning. You will deputise for the Area Manager as needed.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification at Degree, HND or equivalent, or significant relevant experience.
• Several years' experience within industrial engineering.
• Experience managing engineering projects and teams.
• Strong planning and coordination skills.
• Knowledge of NEC3 contracts.
• Experience working with Gantt charts and project schedules.
• Strong understanding of mechanical installation and maintenance.
• Experience with risk assessments and health & safety.
• Excellent customer-facing and communication skills.
• Good commercial awareness.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support engineering/project teams.
• Plan and coordinate scheduled and reactive engineering work.
• Manage projects from initial planning through to completion.
• Ensure projects are delivered to agreed timescales, cost and quality standards.
• Carry out site inspections and prepare survey reports and quotations.
• Manage project costings and support P&L performance.
• Liaise directly with customers and advise on engineering solutions.
• Monitor operational performance, utilisation and scheduling.
• Produce project reports and Gantt charts.
• Support contractual and commercial requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineering teams.
• Support health & safety, risk assessments and site compliance.
• Work collaboratively with supply chain and other internal departments.
• Deputise for the Area Manager when required.

We are currently recruiting for a Deputy Operations Manager to support the senior management of an established engineering operation, taking responsibility for engineering teams, customer projects, operational performance and project delivery.

This is a varied position combining engineering leadership, project management, customer liaison, commercial responsibility and operational planning.

The Role

Reporting to the Area Manager, you will act as second-in-command and deputise in their absence, whilst continuing to provide technical and operational leadership across engineering projects and service activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and supporting engineering/project teams.
• Planning and coordinating scheduled and reactive engineering work.
• Managing projects from initial planning through to completion.
• Ensuring projects are delivered to agreed timescales, cost and quality standards.
• Carrying out site inspections and preparing survey reports and quotations.
• Managing project costings and supporting P&L performance.
• Liaising directly with customers and advising on engineering solutions.

• Producing project reports and Gantt charts.

About You
