Job summary

Escape is seeking a Deputy Operations Manager to support senior management in an established engineering operation. You will oversee engineering teams, manage customer projects, and drive operational performance and project delivery.

Reporting to the Area Manager, you will act as second-in-command, providing technical and operational leadership across projects and service activities. This role combines engineering leadership with project management and commercial responsibilities across planning

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification at Degree, HND or equivalent, or significant relevant experience.
• Several years' experience within industrial engineering.
• Experience managing engineering projects and teams.
• Strong planning and coordination skills.
• Knowledge of NEC3 contracts.
• Experience working with project schedules and risk assessments.
• Excellent customer-facing and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Leading and supporting engineering/project teams.
• Planning and coordinating scheduled and reactive engineering work.
• Managing projects from initial planning through to completion.
• Ensuring projects are delivered to agreed timescales, cost and quality standards.
• Carrying out site inspections and preparing survey reports and quotations.
• Managing project costings and supporting P&L performance.
• Liaising directly with customers and advising on engineering solutions.
• Monitoring operational performance, utilisation and scheduling.
• Producing project reports and Gantt charts.
• Supporting contractual and commercial requirements.
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to engineering teams.
• Supporting health & safety, risk assessments and site compliance.
• Working collaboratively with supply chain and other internal departments.
• Deputising for the Area Manager when required.
