Job summary

Babcock is offering a Mechanical Engineering Graduate Programme based at Devonport, Plymouth. The programme runs over two years across placements in Design Authority, Plant Management, Safety Case and Operational Support.

It prepares graduates for a permanent Mechanical Engineer role within the company’s Naval facilities, with BPSS, SC, and NNPP clearance prerequisites. The position provides a starting salary of £35,000 plus benefits, with structured training, mentorship, and opportunities for

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline is required.

Responsibilities

• Support activities across all stages of the engineering lifecycle for mechanical systems, including those with nuclear and radiological implications.
• Assist in concept and design development, construction, commissioning, in-service support and decommissioning.
• Collaborate with design teams on fluid systems, mechanical handling equipment and building services to ensure safety, reliability and performance of critical infrastructure.
• Produce engineering drawings and models, perform technical analysis, and write detailed reports. Even onsite, including onboard submarines, as part of the Devonport Facilities team.
