Job description

Mechanical Engineer / Electrical Engineer - Rail - 12-18 months FTC

A qualified Mechanical or Electrical Engineer is required on a fixed term contract basis for 12 - 18 months in an advisory and operational capacity to support various projects of work for a highly established organisation within the industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for product design, electrical / mechanical engineering, hardware delivery and functionality within the rail industry.

Role Responsibilities

  • Managing third party suppliers to develop future prototype units
  • Reviewing internal technical documentation
  • Successfully managing challenging stakeholders
  • Deliver to, at times challenging, tight programme deadlines
  • Create technical specifications / documentation as directed by the programme
  • Liaise with project and programme delivery teams, building strong relationships and ensuring effective collaboration
  • Provide layman's terms answers to highly technical questions raised by stakeholders both internal and external to ensure complex language is translated into easily digestible information

Minimum Qualifications

  • Qualification as an Electrical or Mechanical Engineer is essential
  • Experience in the rail industry either directly or via an agency / consultancy is highly desirable
