Job summary

Viridor is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our new Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) in Tilbury, Essex. This full-time role (40 hours/week, Mon-Fri) joins during the construction phase to establish engineering practices that will support long-term success.

You will plan and execute maintenance and help prepare the site for operations. Joining during the build, you'll work with the EC&I team to ensure safe, reliable plant performance and meet health, safety and financial targets as Viridor moves

Qualifications

• Knowledge of mechanical machinery repair methods, materials and maintenance practices.
• Experience with Permit to Work and Safe Systems of Work processes.
• Experience supervising teams and contractors to deliver KPIs.
• Experience using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with engineering qualification (HNC or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute maintenance activities across the ERF plant, including stores and workshops.
• Provide guidance and develop capability to drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with EC&I Engineers to ensure long-term availability and reliability of the plant.
• Support health, safety, environmental and financial targets.
