Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR requires a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join a site-based engineering team at a prestigious Knightsbridge building in London. You will undertake planned and reactive maintenance to keep building services running safely and efficiently.

The role involves fault finding, diagnostics, and working with contractors to ensure compliance with health and safety. Hours are Monday to Friday with rotating shifts; callouts occur roughly every three weeks with a £100 weekly allowance.

Qualifications

• Need recognised mechanical engineering qualification or relevant background.
• Experienced in planned and reactive maintenance in commercial buildings.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Good health and safety understanding.
• Experience in high-end commercial or landmark buildings is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance across the site.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults and breakdowns promptly.
• Maintain and service a range of building mechanical systems and equipment.
• Respond to reactive maintenance requests and minimise downtime.
• Perform inspections and routine checks to ensure plant safety and operability.
• Complete maintenance records and site documentation accurately.
• Ensure all work complies with health and safety procedures.
• Collaborate with the engineering team, contractors, and site management.
• Support day-to-day operation of building mechanical services.
• Participate in the site's callout rota (approx. 1 week in 3).

Salary: £44,000 – £45,000

Hours: Monday – Friday, 07:00–16:00 / 09:00–18:00 on a weekly rotating shift

About the Role

The role will involve carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance, ensuring all building services and equipment remain operational, safe and compliant. This is a hands‑on engineering position suited to an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong maintenance background and the ability to diagnose and resolve faults effectively.

Qualifications / Experience

• Recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification or relevant engineering background.
• Previous experience working as a Mechanical Engineer within a commercial building services environment .
• Strong experience in planned and reactive mechanical maintenance.
• Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety and safe working practices.
• Experience working within a high-end commercial or landmark building environment would be advantageous.
