Job summary

Equans is recruiting a Mechanical Engineer to join our team supporting Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals. This is a full-time role (40 hours per week) based in the United Kingdom, with a competitive salary and benefits package.

You will maintain and service building services across the site, including ventilation, pumps, boilers, medical gases, and heating systems, while ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.

Qualifications

• Must have City & Guilds/NVQ Level 2/3 in relevant discipline.
• Recognised apprenticeship in relevant engineering discipline.
• DBS check is required for the role.

Responsibilities

• Work on ventilation, pumps, compressors, boilers, medical gases, heating systems, domestic hot and cold-water systems.
• Respond to reactive jobs to diagnose faults and repair complex mechanical systems in line with standards and procedures.
• Coordinate with Wards/Departments to minimise disruption while carrying out work.
• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) across site per programme and training.
• Take part in on-call rota.

Equans is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team working on our contract with Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

What will you deliver?

• Work on the following but not limited to; ventilation, pumps, compressors, boilers, medical gases, heating systems, domestic hot and cold-water systems
• Undertake a proactive role in responding to reactive jobs to complete diagnostic, fault finding and repair to complex mechanical systems in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures and in compliance with legislation and guidance
• Ensure liaison with Wards and Departments as required, ensuring there is minimum disruption whilst carrying out work.
• Obtain Competent Person status following training and instruction for systems such as specialist ventilation system, complex water systems and medical gas installations
• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks to services across site on various aspects of the building services in accordance with the PPM programme and personal competence and training
• Take part in on call rota

Who are you?

• City and Guilds/NVQ levels 2 and 3
• Recognised apprenticeship in relevant engineering discipline to City & Guilds level
• Previously worked within a maintenance environment
• Good knowledge and understand of a range of complex mechanical systems including but not limited to ventilation, pumps, compressors, boilers, medical gases, heating systems, domestic hot and cold-water systems
• Possess a current valid driving licence

This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
