Equans UK & Ireland is seeking an Assistant Technical Services Manager (Mechanical) for Midland Metropolitan University Hospital in Smethwick. The role is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, with a competitive package.

You will lead day-to-day activities under the Technical Services Manager, plan maintenance using Maximo, and manage subcontractor performance. DBS check is required, and on-call duties may apply.

Qualifications

• City and Guild or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Strong communication and IT skills required.
• Experience with estates, construction and FM services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directly accountable for day-to-day matters to the Technical Services Manager.
• Deputise for the Technical Services Manager during absences.
• Plan and schedule all planned maintenance using Maximo.
• Negotiate with subcontractors to ensure cost-effective service.
• Ensure response and repair times are met for staff and contractors.
• Review work quality by staff and contractors.
• Participate in Estates Team and achieve AP status where required.
• On-call rota participation after training; winter on-call possible.

What will you deliver?

• Directly accountable for day-to-day matters to the Technical Services Manager
• Deputise for the Technical Services Manager during absence from site as directed by Senior Management Team
• Plan and schedule all planned preventative maintenance activities in conjunction with the Planning Coordinator for buildings, plant and equipment using the Maximo system, with consideration to statute, Regulations, ACOP’s and Guidance (HTM’s)
• Assist the Technical Services Manager to undertake negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers to provide a cost-effective service with reference to the contract SLA’s
• Ensuring that all staff and subcontractors’ response and rectification times are met, and repairs are undertaken diligently, with due care and without undue delay
• Review the quality of work undertaken by both directly employed staff and contractors
• Participate as a member of the Estates Team by achieving Authorised Person (AP) status in a number of disciplines as required and directed by Senior Management Team which will include the following key disciplines as appropriate along with any other disciplines deemed necessary:Pressure Systems,Ventilation,Medical Gas
• Required to participating in the ‘on call’ rota as and when required, after suitable training and relevant experience is gained as directed by Senior Management. On call cover may also include participation in Winter Maintenance on-call.

Who are you?

• City and Guild or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline
• High level of verbal, written and numeric skills and must be computer literate
• A sound knowledge of standard spreadsheet packages and computerised estates and project management systems
• Must be able to manage people, be self-motivating, able to work on own initiative, and be able to liaise and delegate effectively with staff operating in a multi-disciplinary environment
• Able to demonstrate a sound understanding of technical and estates and building issues in the provision of construction, maintenance and FM services
• Good organizational skills and the ability to communicate at all levels
• Driving Licence

This role includes a DBS Basic check therefore ability to pass is essential.
