This static, site-based role offers 12-hour shifts on a 4 on / 4 off pattern and a £60,000 base salary plus package, with opportunities to work on a ground-floor installation. You will maintain and support the new system, perform planned and reactive maintenance, monitor performance, and follow strict health and safety procedures in a live, critical environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support a brand-new liquid cooling system, with training provided.

• Monitor system performance, respond to alarms and faults, and perform first-line diagnostics.
• Complete routine inspections, PPMs and statutory checks.

• Escalate with subcontractors or OEM support as needed.

Mechanical Engineer

Data Centre | Static / Shift-Based | Permanent

£60,000 + package

This is a static, site-based role for someone who wants to get in on the ground floor of a brand-new liquid cooling system on a newly installed contract.

You’ll be working for a UK-based data centre specialist that handles design, build and maintenance under one roof. They operate across the UK, Europe, Asia-Pacific and the US, serving clients who need complex data centre infrastructure delivered without error, and their pitch is simple: one company, one team, full accountability end to end.

This isn’t a role where you’re inheriting someone else’s problems. Because the system and the contract are both new, there are no legacy issues to fix. You’ll be part of a static site team providing round-the-clock cover, working to strict health & safety and permit-to-work procedures within a live, critical environment.

What you’ll do

• Maintain and support a brand-new liquid cooling system, with training provided.
• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical plant and cooling infrastructure across the data centre.
• Monitor system performance, respond to alarms and faults, and carry out first-line diagnostics and repairs.
• Complete routine inspections, PPMs and statutory checks in line with site procedures and manufacturer guidance.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs and compliance documentation.
• Work to strict health & safety, permit-to-work and site access procedures within a live, critical environment.
• Escalate and coordinate with specialist subcontractors or OEM support where required.

What you’ll need

• Data centre experience is essential.
• Strong mechanical engineering background, ideally HVAC, cooling systems or critical plant maintenance.
• Comfortable working on new technology.
• Able to work 12-hour shifts on a 4 on / 4 off pattern.
• Methodical, safety-conscious, and confident working independently as well as part of a shift team.
• Recognised mechanical qualification (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC/HND) or equivalent trade background
