Job summary

PPM Recruitment in London SW15 is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to manage, maintain and repair critical hospital building services and infrastructure.

You will inspect plant, work on heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, pumps and boilers, perform PPM and reactive maintenance, diagnose faults, coordinate with Estates and external contractors, and respond to emergencies. On-call rota may apply; DBS disclosure is required. 40 hours per week, Mon–Fri.

Qualifications

• Must have mechanical background with practical engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and inspect mechanical plant and equipment throughout the hospital.
• Work on heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, hot and cold-water systems, pumps, boilers and associated mechanical services.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and undertake repairs where appropriate.
• Ensure engineering systems comply with health and safety, statutory and healthcare requirements.
• Monitor contractors and specialist engineering service providers.
• Assist with engineering projects, refurbishment works and equipment upgrades.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Respond effectively to breakdowns and emergencies affecting critical hospital services.
• Work closely with clinical departments, Estates staff and external contractors.
• Participate in an on-call or emergency response rota where required.
