Qualifications

Job description

Filtronic delivers cutting-edge RF and mmWave solutions that power the future of high-frequency communications. From satellite links to next-generation sensing systems, we design and manufacture high-performance components and subsystems—including SSPAs, filters, and transceivers—ensuring seamless connectivity and precision at the highest frequencies.

To deliver comprehensive and strategic mechanical engineering leadership throughout the entirety of microwave and RF subsystem projects, ensuring excellence from initial concept through to final execution and beyond. This role encompasses oversight and guidance in all phases of project development, facilitating seamless collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal results.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Creating models and drawings using 3D CAD in Solidworks
  • Responsible for the management and control of engineering drawings and documents in accordance with Drawing Office standards and methods
  • To compile manufacturing documentation and support reliability analysis and testing
  • Management of changes through the ECN procedures
  • Drawings according to ISO and BS standards
  • Development of drawings for machined, punched, cast or moulded parts
  • Investigation of new suppliers for existing and new technologies for cost reduction
  • Investigation of new materials and processes
  • Contribute to design reviews as part of the company ISO process
  • Review of mechanical properties of parts and assemblies (thermal, mechanical stress etc) using 3D analysis software
  • Design of jigs and fixtures
  • Responsible for the upkeep and improvement of existing generic process, maintenance and standards documentation
  • Deployment of manufacturing documentation using the current systems in place
Requirements
  • Degree (equivalent) in mechanical engineering, with 3+ years of industrial experience
  • 2D and 3D Solid modelling experience (Solidworks preferred)
  • 3D Thermal and Stress Analysis, using finite element modelling tools
  • Knowledge of machining, casting, moulding, coating and plating processes 2D & 3D
  • Knowledge of RoHS and WEEE compliance
  • Must be a highly motivated individual able to interface effectively with internal & external customers
