About the role

We have a new opportunity for a Principal or Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our Cambridge team.

Our Cambridge office provides local project support, especially within complex sectors like Science, Research, and Healthcare. We are focused on growth and value stability and opportunity. As a Principal or Associate Engineer, you will support and deliver designs for various projects, working within a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality services, develop business opportunities, and ensure profitability.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing client relationships and fostering future opportunities.
  • Promoting Hoare Lea’s services and contributing to bids.
  • Defining project briefs, taking ownership, and delivering profitable schemes.
  • Leading larger projects and coordinating disciplines as the main client contact.
  • Supporting team development and staff growth.
  • Managing project workload, delegating tasks, and checking work.
  • Monitoring project costs and reporting to management.
  • Ensuring quality, technical accuracy, and risk management.

About you

To succeed, you should have:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer with a record of delivering complex projects.
  • Knowledge of mechanical services like heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary environments, with strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and relevant software/tools.
  • Self-awareness, openness, and a collaborative spirit.
  • Familiarity with British Standards.
  • Consultancy experience, including understanding of acoustics, fire engineering, and computer modeling impacts.
