Job summary

Wigan & Leigh College and University Centre is seeking an enthusiastic FE lecturer to deliver mechanical and electrical engineering qualifications. You will teach across Level 3 to 6, plan engaging lessons, mark work, assess progress, and support students’ employability skills.

A strong background in PLCs, engineering maths, and design understanding is essential. You’ll join a supportive team, contribute to safeguarding, and travel across college sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Degree or vocational qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related area.
• GCSE English and Maths (Grade C or equivalent) — can be obtained during probation.
• Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one with college support.
• Up-to-date subject knowledge and enthusiasm to share with students.
• Confidence with IT and e-learning tools (ILT) to enhance student experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver lessons across Level 3 to 6 to help students achieve potential.
• Mark work, provide feedback, and guide improvement.
• Use assessment results to shape lessons and monitor progress.
• Monitor attendance and promote positive behaviour.
• Keep accurate records of progress and assessments.
