Job summary

TipTopJob in Wigan, Greater Manchester, seeks an experienced Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering Lecturer for a permanent full-time role. You will inspire students, plan and deliver assessments, and support progression in a dynamic college environment.

The successful candidate will have FE experience across Manufacturing, Mechanical and Electrical engineering, with strong teaching and pastoral skills and a commitment to high-quality learning outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Further Education across Manufacturing, Mechanical and electrical engineering.
  • Ability to plan and deliver effective assessment and feedback.
  • Strong communication and team-working skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver formative and summative assessments in line with awarding body requirements.
  • Develop best practice in learning, teaching and assessment.
  • Assess and record student progress using college systems.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to support progress.
  • Monitor attendance and promote positive behaviour for learning.
  • Engage in continuous professional development.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering Lecturer to inspire and educate students within a dynamic and high:performing college in Wigan, Greater Manchester area

To be considered for this position you must have experience in Further Education across Manufacturing, Mechanical and electrical engineering

As The Lecturer You Key Responsibilities Include
  • Ensure that students achieve their academic potential through effective planning and delivery of formative and summative assessment in line with awarding body requirements
  • Develop and deliver best practice in learning, teaching and assessment
  • Assess students work in line with College and departmental policies and awarding body requirements
  • Assess and record student progress systematically using College systems, and use this to inform planning of lessons and homework
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback on student work to support progress and achievement
  • Monitor and manage student attendance and promote positive behaviour for learning
  • Undertake continuous professional development and actively contribute to improving teaching and learning
The following skills and experience would be preferred and beneficial for the role
  • Relevant and current subject knowledge
  • Knowledge and understanding of excellent teaching, learning and assessment practices and quality assurance
  • Effective communication skills and able to work flexibly as part of the College team
  • ICT competent/e:learning/ILT
  • Able to act as a pastoral tutor
  • Proficient at planning and managing your own diary
  • Experience in would be Machining, Hand:fitting, Mechanical Maintenance, Hydraulics and Pneumatics

The successful Lecturer will receive an excellent salary up to GBP45,119 per annum : Plus extra GBP2000: GBP6000 via claiming for a levelling:up premium payment. Eligibility for levelling:up premium payment
  • You may be eligible to claim a levelling:up premium payment for teaching engineering and manufacturing. The payment ranges from GBP2,000 to GBP6,000 depending on your provider and the number of hours you teach. If youre in your first 5 years of teaching in FE and spend at least half of your hours teaching eligible FE courses at level 3 or below, you may be eligible.
