Job summary

SII UK is seeking an experienced Mechanical Draftsperson to support its Hardware Engineering function, delivering high-quality mechanical drawings that meet BS 8888 and customer specs. You will collaborate with Mechanical Design Engineers to ensure accuracy, clarity, and proper tolerancing in all drawings.

Key responsibilities include producing 2D drawings from 3D models, reviewing peers' drawings for compliance, and guiding GD&T application across projects while maintaining strict document

Qualifications

• Strong drafting/draughting experience in mechanical engineering.
• Excellent understanding of BS 8888.
• Strong grasp of GD&T and tolerancing.
• Experience with datum structures, feature control frames and MMC/LMC.
• Ability to review and interpret complex drawings.

Responsibilities

• Produce and support high-quality 2D mechanical drawings from 3D CAD models.
• Review drawings for accuracy, clarity and compliance with requirements.
• Ensure drawings comply with BS 8888 and internal QA standards.
• Review drawing layouts, dimensions, tolerancing and drafting conventions.
• Assess and challenge GD&T, datum structures and tolerancing approaches.
• Maintain correct revisions, title blocks and document control for traceability.
• Provide technical guidance on GD&T application to engineering teams.
