Job summary

SII UK is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support our Hardware Engineering function. You will develop detailed mechanical designs, produce drawings, and manage documentation across the product lifecycle while collaborating with engineering teams and stakeholders.

The role emphasizes BS 8888 compliance, design reviews, and leading work packages to ensure robust product designs and successful project delivery within UK operations.

Qualifications

• Experience producing detailed mechanical designs and technical drawings.
• Good knowledge of BS 8888.
• Experience with 3D CAD/CAE applications.
• Ability to analyse and resolve complex mechanical engineering issues.
• Experience participating in or leading design reviews.
• Understanding of engineering change and configuration control.
• Experience working with BOMs and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed mechanical designs using a range of CAE tools.
• Apply engineering principles to make informed decisions on complex technical issues.
• Produce detailed engineering drawings in accordance with BS 8888.
• Maintain product and engineering documentation in line with departmental processes.
• Lead and deliver mechanical engineering work packages.
• Support projects through the wider product development lifecycle.
• Lead and participate in design reviews.
• Support engineering change activities, maintaining BOM and process integrity.
