Elix Sourcing Solutions in Stevenage is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer specialized in tooling and injection moulds. The role involves independently designing tools from single-impression to multi-cavity systems and delivering designs through to manufacture.

You will work with Creo and SolidWorks in a small design team, liaising with customers, managing projects, and contributing to R&D initiatives. Salary £35,000–£40,000 per annum with overtime and generous holiday.

Formación

• Experience designing high-precision injection mould tools.
• Ability to work independently; toolmaking experience is advantageous.
• Willing to live within commuting distance of Stevenage.

Mechanical Design Engineer - Tooling

Monday - Thursday, 8am - 5pm / Friday, 8am - 4pm

Are you a Design Engineer with experience designing injection moulding tools? Are you looking for an autonomous role offering varied technical projects, customer involvement and the opportunity to see your designs manufactured in an in-house toolroom?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist engineering company supplying injection mould tooling to customers across the medical, automotive, switchgear and packaging industries.

You will join a small design team reporting directly to the director, designing tools ranging from single-impression moulds to multi-cavity hot runner systems. Working closely with the in-house toolroom, you will take projects from design through to manufacture.

Your duties will involve designing injection mould tools and components in 3D and 2D, carrying out design reviews and ensuring designs are suitable for manufacture. Additionally, you will manage projects, liaise with customers and contribute to research and development, delivering high-quality designs within agreed timescales.

The company uses Creo and SolidWorks, although experienced injection mould designers using other CAD packages will be considered, with CAD cross-training available.

The Role:

• Design high-precision injection mould tools, from single-impression to multi-cavity hot runner systems
• Manage projects, liaise with customers and carry out design reviews and DFM
• Monday - Friday, 41.5 hours per week, with overtime paid at standard rate plus 10%

• Experienced in designing high-precision injection mould tools and a broad range of mould designs
• Able to work independently, with toolmaking experience advantageous
• Lives a commutable distance from Stevenage
