Job summary

Interaction Recruitment PLC is seeking an experienced Toolmaker to join the busy Toolroom team in Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire. The role focuses on servicing, maintaining and improving injection mould tooling to support production and reduce downtime.

The ideal candidate has toolmaking experience with mould tooling, can read engineering drawings, and is proficient with precision measuring equipment. Apprentice-trained or time-served engineers are preferred.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Toolmaker or mould toolmaker.
• Experience with injection mould tooling and repairs.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and use precision measuring tools.
• Apprentice trained or time-served engineering background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair injection mould tools to minimise downtime.
• Strip, inspect and rebuild mould tools to drawings.
• Diagnose tooling faults and perform corrective repairs.
• Manufacture replacement tool components from drawings.
• Operate manual and CNC machinery as needed.
• Maintain tooling maintenance records and assist with new tooling projects.

£35,000 - £40,000 + Overtime + Pension
Monday to Friday, Days (07:00-16:30)

Interaction Recruitment are supporting a long-established manufacturing business in their search for an experienced Toolmaker to join their busy Toolroom team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Toolmaker with experience of injection mould tooling to join a stable company investing heavily in its manufacturing operation. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining, repairing and improving tooling to support production and minimise downtime.

The Role

Working within the Toolroom, your responsibilities will include:

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing injection mould tools
• Stripping, inspecting and rebuilding mould tools
• Diagnosing tooling faults and carrying out corrective repairs
• Manufacturing replacement tool components from drawings
• Operating manual and CNC machinery where required
• Polishing cavities, cores and tooling surfaces
• Supporting production with tooling breakdowns and technical issues
• Carrying out preventative maintenance activities
• Assisting with new tooling projects, modifications and improvements
• Maintaining accurate tooling and maintenance records

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a Toolmaker, Mould Toolmaker or Toolroom Engineer
• Experience working with injection mould tools
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Experience using precision measuring equipment
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Apprentice trained or time-served engineering background preferred
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable

• CNC milling or turning experience
• EDM / Wire Erosion experience
• CAD/CAM exposure
• Knowledge of hot runner systems
• Plastic injection moulding industry experience
