Job summary

Platform Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for an established product development business in Cambridgeshire. You will work on electro-mechanical products from concept through to production, collaborating with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams.

You will develop designs, produce 3D CAD models and detailed drawings, build prototypes, and prepare manufacturing documentation. The role offers hands-on experience across the full product development lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Degree, HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design or related field.
• Understand mechanical manufacturing processes, materials, tolerances and finishing techniques.
• Hands-on experience with prototyping or workshop-based activities.
• Experience developing consumer, scientific or electro-mechanical products.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs from initial concept through prototype, manufacture and production.
• Produce 3D CAD models, assemblies and detailed engineering drawings.
• Build and assemble prototypes.
• Prepare manufacturing documentation, assembly instructions and technical drawings.
• Work closely with production teams to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
• Investigate new materials, manufacturing processes and finishing techniques.
