Job summary

Chronos Energy is recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop renewable energy system designs for industrial, district heating and commercial sectors. The role involves producing mechanical drawings, sizing components, and performing energy modelling to deliver low-carbon energy solutions for global clients.

You will work with cross-disciplinary teams, ensure CDM compliance, and engage in both delivery and R&D activities across projects in the UK and abroad.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years experience in a mechanical design engineering role.
• Experience producing designs up to RIBA stage 4/5 through to construction is preferred.
• Experience with engineering drawing and design tools (AutoCAD).
• Experience in HVAC and building services/industrial processes including heat pumps/chillers/boiler plant/CHPs.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical designs from initial concept through to construction level of detail.
• Work with 3D CAD packages such as AutoCAD Plant 3D.
• Produce detailed mechanical drawings (site plans, pipework isometrics, P&IDs).
• Carry out supporting calculations throughout all stages of delivery.
• Carry out energy modelling and produce reports using various software.
• Specify equipment and components throughout the mechanical system.
• Collaborate with architects, electrical/controls engineers, and structural teams.
• Uphold health and safety standards per CDM regulations and local standards.
• Present to clients, delivery partners and stakeholders in the UK and internationally.
• Provide technical support to commercial teams to aid deal flow.
• Contribute to improving internal design processes.
