Mechanical Design Engineer – Bespoke Machinery

Job summary

Echelon Engineers are recruiting on behalf of a client, a well-established manufacturer of bespoke special-purpose machinery. You will take designs from concept to completion, collaborating with sales and production to meet customer needs and build high-quality, safe solutions.

You will produce 3D CAD models, detailed drawings and BOMs, ensure compliance with safety standards, and contribute to hands-on build, testing and new product development, including occasional site visits.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or HNC/HND.
• Mechanical design experience in a bespoke machinery environment.
• 2D/3D CAD skills with SolidWorks, Creo or AutoCAD.
• Experience building and fault-finding pneumatic circuits.
• Confident dealing with customers, suppliers and in-house manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Take new designs from concept to completion, working with sales and production teams.
• Produce 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, BOMs and technical documentation.
• Ensure designs meet customer specifications, manufacturing requirements and relevant safety standards.
• Get involved hands-on with build, testing and new product development.
• Visit customer sites when needed.
