Job summary

Elevation Recruitment Group is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Gainsborough to join a leading manufacturer of bespoke packaging machinery. You will design, model, and document mechanical components from concept through manufacture, collaborating with production and service teams to deliver projects.

The role requires 3+ years in mechanical design, strong Inventor skills, and knowledge of CE/UKCA compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience in mechanical design, ideally within bespoke machinery or special-purpose equipment.
• Strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, including 3D modelling and 2D drafting.
• Previous experience within packaging machinery or the food manufacturing industry would be advantageous.
• Good knowledge of pneumatics, motors, drives and stainless steel fabrication.
• Understanding of Design for Manufacture principles and CE/UKCA compliance requirements.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
• HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop bespoke packaging machinery, mechanical assemblies and components using Autodesk Inventor.
• Produce detailed 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings and technical documentation.
• Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manage design changes.
• Collaborate with production, purchasing, electrical and service teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Ensure designs meet relevant safety, hygiene and CE/UKCA compliance standards.
• Support design reviews, machinery testing and continuous improvements, applying Design for Manufacture principles.
• Provide technical support for customer–specific engineering projects and machinery modifications.
