Job summary

Echelon Engineers is recruiting on behalf of a client, a well–established, privately owned manufacturer of bespoke special–purpose machinery for process industries. They are expanding their design team.

Take designs from concept to completion, produce CAD models and detailed drawings, and ensure compliance with customer specs, safety standards and manufacturing needs. Occasional site visits may be required.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or HNC/HND required.
• Mechanical design experience in bespoke machinery environments.
• Experience with 2D/3D CAD software and pneumatic circuits.
• Confident with customers, suppliers and in-house manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Take new designs from concept to completion with sales and production teams.
• Produce 3D CAD models, drawings, BOMs and documentation.
• Ensure designs meet customer specs, manufacturability and safety standards.
• Involve yourself in build, testing and new product development; visit customer sites as needed.

The role

• Take new designs from concept to completion, working with the sales and production teams
• Produce 3D CAD models, detailed manufacturing drawings, BOMs and technical documentation
• Make sure designs meet customer specifications, manufacturing requirements and relevant safety standards
• Get involved hands–on with build, testing and new product development
• Visit customer sites when needed

Essential

• Engineering degree or HNC/HND
• Mechanical design experience in a bespoke machinery environment
• 2D/3D CAD (SolidWorks, Creo or AutoCAD)
• Experience building and fault–finding pneumatic circuits
• Confident dealing with customers, suppliers and in–house manufacturing

Desirable

• Design of conveyors or automated handling equipment
• PDM/Vault experience
• Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical control systems
