Active Staff in Yateley seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering business working on advanced technology for defence. The role covers design and development from concept to prototype, using CAD to produce 3D models and engineering drawings to BS8888, with close collaboration across internal teams.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, at least four years' experience, proficiency in SolidWorks and/or Inventor, strong problem-solving

Qualificações

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 4 years' industry experience in mechanical design/product development.
• Experience using CAD software (SolidWorks/Inventor) and producing drawings.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings to BS8888 standards.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing methods and production processes.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Responsabilidades

• Produce detailed mechanical designs and 3D models using CAD software.
• Create and modify engineering drawings to BS8888 standards.
• Interpret technical specifications from existing drawings.
• Support product development from concept to prototype.
• Order prototype parts and liaise with external suppliers.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure design meets requirements.
• Identify and resolve mechanical design issues.
• Ensure drawings and designs are accurate and high quality.
• Apply manufacturing knowledge in design development.
• Manage design tasks with minimal supervision.

We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our well-established engineering business based in Yateley. The successful candidate will join a highly skilled engineering team, working on the design and development of advanced technology used within the defence industry.

The Role of Mechanical Design Engineer:

• Producing detailed mechanical designs and 3D models using CAD software.
• Creating and modifying engineering drawings in line with relevant industry standards, including BS8888.
• Working from existing engineering drawings and interpreting technical specifications.
• Supporting product development and design projects from concept through to prototype.
• Ordering prototype parts and liaising with external suppliers.
• Working closely with internal engineering and project teams to ensure designs meet project requirements.
• Identifying and resolving mechanical design issues through effective problem-solving.
• Ensuring all drawings and design work are completed accurately and to a high standard.
• Applying knowledge of manufacturing principles and production processes when developing designs.
• Managing allocated design tasks independently and working with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate for the Mechanical Design Engineer:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• At least 4 years' industry experience within mechanical design and/or product development.
• Previous experience using CAD software, ideally SolidWorks and/or Inventor.
• Ability to produce, read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience producing engineering drawings to BS8888 standards.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles and mechanical design.
• Knowledge of manufacturing methods and production processes.
• Good problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail.
• Confident communicating with suppliers and working collaboratively with colleagues across different departments.
• MRP experience (desirable).
• Be able to provide proof of UK residency for the previous five years.
• Be suitable to obtain the required security clearance.
