Job summary

A leading engineering firm seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to manage design specifications and project estimates within a regulated environment. You will ensure adherence to health and safety standards, oversee project delivery, and work in conjunction with a design team. The position requires strong Autodesk skills and a minimum of HNC/HND in Engineering, with a focus on diverse experience including nuclear industries.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years industry experience preferred, but all experience levels will be considered.
• IOSH working safely certificate required.
• Experience with heavy equipment beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety regulations are adhered to.
• Provide design specifications and project estimates.
• Liaise with external suppliers and manage project delivery.

Applicants must have experience of the following:
- HNC/HND
- Able to practice cost value engineering
- Nuclear experience or in another highly regulated industry
- Experience in a design team
- Experience working within time and budget
- IT literate
- Proficient in Autodesk, AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor
- IOSH working safely certificate
Ideally applicants should also have:

Role information:

- Ensure health and safety regulations and procedures are adhered to
- Provide design specifications and project estimates
- Ensure quality standards are met
- Ensure the efficient and cost effective delivery of the project
- Liaise with external suppliers to ensure supplies are available for the project
- Work as a part of a larger team or individually to achieve project objectives
- Act as deputy for the lead engineer when required
