My client is a manufacturer of specialist products for various sectors, seeking to hire a Mechanical Design Engineer on a permanent basis in the Stockport area.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

• Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Previous experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as Creo, Inventor, SolidWorks, etc.
• Strong theoretical knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and tight tolerances
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small, multidisciplinary team
• Capability to perform mechanical calculations
• Experience with process machinery or steel/metal materials is desirable
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills

The role involves:

• Collaborating with the current engineering team and other Design Engineers
• Creating 3D designs using SolidWorks and 2D designs with AutoCAD
• Liaising with manufacturing providers
• Participating in the final assembly of products
• Preparing documentation for designs and project reports/plans
• Updating 3D models and drawings
• Entering parts into the MRP system and creating BOMs
• Reviewing drawings for approval
• Working on various projects within a small, multidisciplinary team
