Job Description

Working within the Product Development team, you will be responsible for developing and delivering enhanced products and design solutions that meet customer needs in a timely and cost-efficient manner, adhering to performance, legislation, and quality standards. You will ensure design intent is realized through timely interaction and communication with key customers, suppliers, and internal cross-functional team members.

Responsibilities:

1. Concept creation using market and customer requirements data, including voice of customer (VOC) exercises as needed.
2. Mechanical design: leading the development of mechanical designs using suitable analysis tools and creating mechanical drawings, models, and schematics using CAD packages.
3. Defining, leading, and supporting product FMEAs, validation, and testing programs.
4. System integration: designing products for manufacture (DFM) and ensuring they meet performance targets and outputs.
5. Creating engineering technical specifications and BOMs.
6. Producing test reports and technical documents to support future customer product use.
7. Identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement by staying updated on new and emerging technologies.
8. Driving ongoing system and process improvements to enhance working practices and departmental/business efficiency.
9. Ensuring product safety and compliance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., CE, UL, CSA).

About You:

• BSc / BEng Mechanical degree with proven industrial and product experience.
• 5+ years of experience in a Mechanical Design role.
• Proficient in Creo / Inventor or equivalent CAD software, plus Microsoft 365.
• Professional Engineering (PE) status (if applicable).
• Design experience related to load banks, gensets, transformers, power products, complex machinery, and/or grid-connected power transmission systems.
• Ability to perform sizing calculations and studies using FEA, CFD analysis packages, and hand calculations.
• Strong personality with energy, drive, adaptability, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Experience working with electrical products and contributing best practices to support team and business growth.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
• Organized, disciplined, detail-oriented, and capable of delivering results on time.
• People and process-oriented, with a focus on relationship building and collaboration.
