Job description

Mechanical Design Engineer

A well-established organization specializing in the design and manufacture of automation and robotic solutions across various industries including automotive, medical, healthcare, and packaging. Due to a full order book, they are seeking to recruit an additional team member.

Duties:

1. Perform mechanical design and detailing functions for bespoke machinery projects using 3D CAD.
2. Negotiate with external suppliers to obtain cost-efficient materials in line with project budgets and timelines.
3. Visit customer sites to understand requirements and communicate these effectively to both customers and internal teams.
4. Assess and improve design concepts during sales quotation stages to reduce risks, costs, and lead times.
5. Conduct periodic project reviews with customers, documenting issues and reporting on project status.

The Person:

• Competence in mechanical design, robotics, automation, and pneumatic systems is advantageous.
• Degree qualified (HNC/HND or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proficient in 3D CAD software such as SolidEdge, SolidWorks, or Inventor.
• Proven track record of delivering mechanical design projects on time and within budget.
• Knowledge of national and international standards for machine design, safety systems, and CE marking.

Located in Leicestershire, this role is accessible from Coventry, Leicester, Loughborough, Melton Mowbray, and Market Harborough.
