Mechanical Design Engineer

Mechanical Design Engineer, Oxford

£35,000 – £43,000

Our client is a supplier of high-performance systems to scientific research groups worldwide. They are committed to providing a service recognized for its quality. Due to exciting plans for 2023, they are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team.

Role & Responsibilities:

1. Full product design, from concept to manufacture
2. Provide mechanical design input to develop new systems and mechanisms or improve existing ones
3. Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFM & DFA)
4. Create CAD concepts, parts, and assemblies aligned with functional requirements, geometric tolerances, manufacturing techniques, and internal standards
5. Support CAD releases and reviews to meet project milestones, ensuring timely completion and release
6. Provide technical support to internal and external customers
7. Accurately produce manufacturing documentation and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
8. Collaborate with internal departments to support new product introduction

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Understanding of manufacturing and assembly techniques and processes
• Knowledge of Materials Resource Planning (MRP) and Engineering Change Request processes
• Broad knowledge of engineering and materials technology is highly desirable, along with manufacturing best practices and design for manufacture
• Ability to work well independently and within a team
