Job summary

Sigma Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Lichfield to help develop products across the range and extend the site's FEA capability. You will join the UK design team and work on 3D models and drawings, ensuring tight tolerances and design-for-manufacture alignment.

You will perform FEA to demonstrate performance, analyse existing designs, and collaborate with international colleagues while mentoring junior team members. The role is site-based with traditional hours.

Qualifications

• 3D CAD modelling and drawings to required standards and tolerances.
• Hands-on finite element analysis (FEA) experience.
• A mechanical engineering degree or closely related design background.

Responsibilities

• Produce 3D CAD models and 2D drawings to required standards and tolerances.
• Carry out finite element analysis to prove product performance before manufacturing.
• Analyse existing designs and develop new ones based on field knowledge and competitor insight.
• Visit suppliers and foundries to resolve design and manufacturability issues; manage assigned projects and approve first-off samples.
• Collaborate with international colleagues and mentor junior team members.

What you'll do as the Mechanical Design Engineer

You’ll join the UK design team, developing and evolving products across the range and building on the site's FEA capability.
