Job summary

Sigma Recruitment seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the UK design team at our Lichfield site. You will develop and evolve products across the range, building on the site’s FEA capability and delivering robust designs that meet tolerances.

You’ll work with cross-functional teams, mentor junior staff, and interact with suppliers to resolve design and manufacturing challenges, contributing to a fast-growing, non-corporate environment.

Qualifications

• Proficient in 3D CAD and creating 2D drawings to high tolerances.
• Hands-on experience with finite element analysis to validate designs.
• Bachelor’s or higher in mechanical engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Produce 3D CAD models and 2D drawings to required standards and tolerances.
• Carry out finite element analysis to prove product performance before manufacturing.
• Analyse existing designs and develop new ones from field knowledge and competitor insight.
• Visit suppliers and foundries to resolve design and manufacturability issues.
• Manage assigned projects and approve first-off samples before handover to operations.
• Collaborate with international colleagues and mentor junior team members.

What you'll do as the Mechanical Design Engineer

What you'll need to apply for the Mechanical Design Engineer

• Strong 3D CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred, though any major package is considered)
