Design Engineer
Location: Hailsham, BN27 4EL
Salary: Competitive (DOE)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 37 hours (with flexible start/finish)
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

As a Design Engineer, you’ll be a key part of the engineering team, developing cutting-edge mechanical components and assemblies for advanced scientific and research applications. As a Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Driving new product introductions and delivering quality design support using 8D reporting tools.
• Leading NPI projects from concept through to customer delivery using MS Project and internal NPI funnel processes.
• Engaging with clients and third parties to develop and introduce precision mechanical solutions.
• Performing feasibility studies and delivering cost reduction strategies in collaboration with internal teams.
• Coaching junior engineers and helping to build internal capabilities through structured development plans.

To be successful as a Design Engineer, you will need:

• Proven experience in a high-precision manufacturing environment.
• Track record in launching 3–5 new products to market.
• Experience working directly with customers, including site visits or international engagement.
• A practical, results-driven mindset with excellent attention to detail and project management skills.

Additional experience (desirable but not essential):

• Familiarity with UHV markets, customers or suppliers.
• Experience using ERP or other engineering systems.
