Job summary

3 Sixty Resourcing is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a 6-month fixed-term contract in East Sussex, Nr Hailsham. You will translate legacy sketches into detailed 3D SolidWorks models and ensure designs are accurate and manufacturable.

You will design components and assemblies, produce drawings and BOMs, and support new product development from concept to manufacture, working closely with Manufacturing to optimise production.

Qualifications

• Experience as Mechanical Design Engineer in manufacturing/engineering.
• Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks or similar).
• Ability to produce detailed drawings and documentation.
• Solid understanding of engineering principles.
• Proactive problem-solving skills; willingness to learn.

Our client is a well-established engineering manufacturer with an excellent reputation for designing and producing high-quality industrial equipment. Due to increased project demand, they are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team on a 6-month fixed-term contract.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for translating legacy hand-drawn engineering sketches into fully detailed 3D SolidWorks models. Working from existing documentation, you will recreate components and assemblies while ensuring designs are accurate, practical for manufacture, and compliant with engineering standards.

What's involved for the Mechanical Design Engineer…

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD software.
• Produce detailed engineering drawings, specifications and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Support new product development projects from concept through to manufacture.
• Translate legacy hand-drawn engineering sketches into fully detailed 3D SolidWorks models.
• Work closely with Manufacturing and Production teams to ensure designs are efficient to manufacture.
• Carry out engineering calculations, tolerance analysis and design validation.

What you'll need…

• Previous experience working as a Mechanical Design Engineer within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Strong experience using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or similar.

• Experience designing products would be advantageous but is not essential.
