Mechanical Design Engineer – Fuel Injection Systems | Kent | Competitive Salary + Hybrid Working

I'm recruiting for a global engineering client in Kent who are looking to expand their mechanical design team. They’re hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer to support R&D, manufacturing, and aftermarket development of diesel fuel injection systems.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a high-performing team working on innovative, high-precision components in the clean automotive and industrial powertrain sector.

The Role:

• Design high-pressure diesel fuel injection pumps and related components
• Create 3D models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks/NX/CATIA
• Analyse test and simulation data to guide design improvements
• Support DFMEA and participate in product development reviews
• Collaborate with internal teams to assess manufacturability and cost
• Apply GD&T principles and work to tight tolerance, high-precision standards
• Liaise with suppliers and manufacturing teams to bring designs to production

What You’ll Need:

• Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• 5–10 years’ experience in a mechanical design or product development role
• Strong knowledge of CAD (SolidWorks/NX/CATIA), GD&T, and DFM principles
• Experience with DFMEA and design optimisation tools (Pugh, VA/VE, etc.)
• Good communication and collaboration skills across engineering teams
• Experience designing for high-precision manufacturing environments
