Job summary

Platform Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Cambridgeshire to contribute across the full product development lifecycle. You will design from concept to production, produce CAD models and drawings, and build prototypes while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The role involves hands-on prototyping, evaluating materials and processes, and delivering manufacturing-ready documentation in a dynamic, engineering-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design or a related discipline.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, tolerances and finishing techniques.
• Hands-on experience with prototyping or workshop-based activities.
• Experience developing consumer, scientific or electro-mechanical products.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs from initial concept through prototype to manufacture and production.
• Produce 3D CAD models, assemblies and detailed engineering drawings.
• Build and assemble prototypes.
• Prepare manufacturing documentation, assembly instructions and technical drawings.
• Work closely with production teams to identify and resolve mechanical issues.

The company designs and manufactures high-quality, technically complex electro-mechanical products, taking projects from initial concept and development through to production.
